Vilas is a Media and Entertainment professional, running his own company based out of Bangalore from past 8 years.He is into Event management and Television Production.
We hear people say all the time that "Managing events are about teamwork" .What kind of management style do you recommend in event companies? .
Event Management is all about team work. We at Common Colors follow only one mantra enjoy yourself while working and have passion in whatever work we are doing. Every member in the team has to be accountable .

How do you see the growth of experiential marketing industry beyond the metros, especially in tier 2 and 3 cities?.
As I mentioned earlier there is enormous potential for many brands in Experiential Marketing spear in tier 2 & tier 3 cities. As per the current market scenario there is 15% - 20% growth in this segment. .

It is projected that the Experiential marketing industry will go through a high growth phenomenon in the next 3-5 years time. In your observation how do you see the industry shape up? Will it start becoming a "Big Players Game" or do you see an opportunity for smaller players emerging as well..
Absolutely, the Experiential Marketing industry will have phenomenal growth in next 3-5 years. It is no more Big players game from past 1-2 years. The smaller players and new entrants in the industry are coming up with very innovative communication methodology by engaging their brands with right TG through on ground activations apart from conventional media. .

Is this industry able to attract the right kind of people? Are you getting industry ready candidates?.
We do get industry ready candidates in specific areas. Otherwise we need to train them as per our industry requirements. .

In today's environment mostly people join event companies and learn on the job however a handful of people also do an event management course and before joining an event company. According to you what is the right approach..
Event Management course will help them understand all the aspect of events & event related information’s. Event Management course will be added advantage but is not a mandatory for someone who is creative and passionate about events. The right approach would be working on different events and different departments in events as trainee’s to have knowledge on events and then get into mainstream works..

Would you like to highlight the key skills/Qualities that one should have or acquire to survive in the Events industry?.
• Passion • Eager to learn • Ownership on the work • Accountability • Constantly updating them self with industry news .

Do event companies have internship programs for students. If yes whom should one approach in the event company to know about the internship programme..
Internship programme is very crucial in any industry for new comers. It will give a dimension to pursue there carrier. They need to get in touch with HR department of the company..

Is there growth for the youth in this industry ?.
There is good carrier growth in Event Management industry for youth. Event industry is one of the fastest growing organized sectors in India. .

How do you unwind after a hard day’s work? .
Unwind with family and friends. Graphic’s designing..

What is your favorite holiday destination?.
Cape town, South Africa.

Do you believe luck or hard work?.
I believe in hard work with dedication and the luck will follow at right time..

Do you remember in which year you managed the first event of your life and how was the experience?.
First event I managed was in my college with S P Balasubramanyam concert as back stage in charge. That was the turning point for me to develop interest on Event Management..

What is that one learning from life you want to share with our readers?.
One needs to be confident, honest & be positive. Enjoy what you doing and good times will follow..

Your indulgence with experiential marketing, was it by design or by accident? Can you tell more on this?.
It was definitely not by accident. Coming from creative back ground started my carrier as designer and went into client servicing in advertising agency for few years. The passion & drive to do innovative things in life with media and entertainment background I ventured into Event Management. .

What is your mantra to maintain a work life balance for people in Events profession? Did you face any challenges ....if "Yes" how you overcame them..
Challenges are part and parcel of the entrepreneurship. Without challenges one cannot achieve his/her goals and challenges drive a person to think out of the box. .
